Boxing Superstar Manny Pacquiao Inks Deal For RIZIN 15
It appears like Manny Pacquiao might be following in the footsteps of his rival, Floyd Mayweather. The multiple-weight boxing champion will be participating in RIZIN’s April 21th event.
RIZIN president Noboyuki Sakakibara made the announcement. He posted a picture of Manny Pacquiao signing a contract to his Twitter page.
“i’m here in the philippines. rizin 15 will have this man involved in a way. we will be ready to announce as i get back to japan! #rizin15 #mannyPacquiao”
This is likely the result of an exhibition bout between Floyd Mayweather and Tenshin Nasukawa that took place late last year. That bout ended quickly, with Mayweather earning a quick KO.
It is important to note that the post is extremely vague on what Manny Pacquiao’s involvement will be. The agreement comes three weeks out from the date of RIZIN 15, therefore a fight involving him is unlikely. However, there is plenty of room for interpretation in Sakakibara’s tweet.
A bout between Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal and Jiri Prochazka is currently set to headline the RIZIN 15 card. In addition to that, the co-main event is between former UFC Flyweights Kyoji Horguchi, and Ben Nguen. It would be safe to assume that if Pacquiao participates in a competitive capacity, it may change the order of the card.
RIZIN 15 is scheduled to take place April 21st, at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan. Fite.TV will be streaming the card. Stay tuned to MiddleEasy for more updates on Manny Pacquiao’s involvement with the event.
