Islam Makhachev (18-1) was scheduled to face Rafael Dos Anjos (29-13) this Saturday in the main event of UFC Vegas 14. Unfortunately, Makhachev has been reported to be out of this fight. This is the second time that this fight has been canceled.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. The UFC has yet to confirm the reports.

Breaking: Islam Makhachev (@MAKHACHEVMMA) out of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night main event, per sources. UFC looking for a short-notice replacement to face Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) on Saturday.”

It is still unclear as to why Makhachev pulled out of the fight. The first time that this fight was canceled, Rafael Dos Anjos had tested positive for Covid-19. This time, the Brazilian finds himself without an opponent as he prepared to make his return to the lightweight division.

While a search for a replacement is certainly ongoing, Rafael Dos Anjos took to Twitter to call out former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler.

I wish @MAKHACHEVMMAa speed recovery. Looking for a new partner to dance. Looks like @MikeChandlerMMAis ready to go. Your move!”

Chandler who signed with the UFC a month ago was booked as a replacement for UFC 254 in case the main event had fallen apart.

Chandler has yet to respond to Dos Anjos’ invitation. He has stated multiple times that he would like to make his debut against a top 5 opponent, but beating a former champion might be a good opportunity to make a name for himself in the UFC.
