Mackenzie Dern Decline To Move To Flyweight, Will Continue To Fight At Strawweight

Strawweight Fighter Targets March UFC Return

The 25-year-old grappling sensation Mackenzie Dern who’s (7-0) in her professional career, has no plan to move to the flyweight division, as she’s targeting a March UFC return at strawweight according to ESPN.

Dern performed way better in her second UFC fight at UFC 224 than her debut bout. BJJ sensation scored a first-round submission win over Amanda Cooper after landing a big overhand right. Sadly her big win was massively overshadowed by her failed weight cut, where she came in 7 pounds over the strawweight limit. Overall she has missed weight three times out of 7 fights.

Despite the weight cut issues, Dern will continue to fight at the 125-pound. According to ESPN, grappling specialist decided to stay at strawweight after having a thorough consultation with her doctors. If she manages to control her weight and continues to rack up wins, no doubt she can become one of the biggest superstars in MMA.

Mackenzie is looking to return to Octagon by late March.

Do you think Dern made the right decision to stay at strawweight?
