Lyoto Machida’s father thinks his son should retire

For the past 800 years, there have been two types of fathers. Some dads, also known as Mets fans, tell their kids to handle disputes at school in a non-violent, diplomatic way. Other dads tell their kids that when someone disagrees with you, it’s best to throw your backpack at them and then catch them with a flurry of unexpected straight jabs that will have them laid out on the ground like an epileptic infant. Those types of dads fail to inform you that regardless of how cool that seems, you will undoubtedly be suspended from school and miss your 7th grade Christmas dance. Damn.

Not sure what patriarchal category Yoshizo Machida fits in, but it seems like pappa Machida has had enough of his son running the 205lb division.

I already said that he better not fight anymore, but I didn’t say it to him. I have expressed this desire just to my wife and his brothers. He doesn’t want (to retire) and says he still has many challenges. According to him 35 is a good age to stop. I think that up to 35 is still possible but after that it starts getting tricky.”

After giving the MMA world one of the greatest knockout faces in the history of the sport, if Lyoto Machida were to retire this year, he has fulfilled all of our expectations. That is, if our expectations were to endlessly romoshop Rashad Evan’s face on a potpourri of insignificant things. [Source]
