On February 3, the UFC will touch down in Belem, Brazil, with what’s sure to be an exciting UFC Fight Night card.

UFC Belem is looking dangerously close to following in Sydney’s footsteps as its headliner was confirmed on Thursday. In the main event, Lyoto Machida will take on Eryk Anders. The former UFC champion will be hoping to get back to winning ways after suffering three consecutive stoppage losses.
“The Dragon” recently returned from a two-year USADA suspension and was brutally knocked unconscious by Derek Brunson in Sao Paulo.
If this is indeed to be Belem’s main event, it is undeniably a bit of a shocker, as Machida is a decorated former champion and multiple-time headliner, while Anders has competed just twice in the Octagon. To call this a big step up for the former Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker would be an understatement.
If Anders wins, he will have beaten up a 39-year-old on a three-fight skid. Although Machida is a big name. Anders (10-0) enters his first UFC main event backed by a pair of dominating wins over Brazilian middleweights Rafael Natal and Markus Perez.
If Machida wins, he will get a nice win on home soil, but one that doesn’t matter a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. Machida’s last win occurred in 2014, when he knocked out CB Dollaway in a little over a minute. He’s 22-8 overall.
Who do you think comes out on top between Machida and Anders middleweight main event for UFC Belem?
