Luke Rockhold Puts Jones On Blast For Dodging Heavyweight Champ Daniel Cormier

Jon Jones is set to compete at UFC 239, but the big talking point leading up to this has been a third fight with Daniel Cormier. Cormier’s teammate Luke Rockhold thinks Jones is scared to fight DC again.

Jones has beat Daniel Cormier two times, previously. The second fight was a second round TKO, which was overturned to a no contest after a failed drug test. Since that fight, Daniel Cormier went on to regain the Light Heavyweight title, along with winning a simultaneous Heavyweight strap.

Now, Cormier relinquished his Light Heavyweight Title, which Jones reclaimed. Since that moment, both Cormier and Jones have been asked about a potential third fight at heavyweight. Both have flirted with the idea, but largely have been dismissive.

Cormier’s friend and teammate Luke Rockhold has his own ideas as to why this fight isn’t happening. He spoke to Submission Radio, where he said he thinks Jones is scared.

“Jon’s scared to fight DC at Heavyweight. i don’t know why dc think he’s gotta come down to fight him there.”

Rockhold would go on to elaborate further.

jon ain’t talking about fighting dc at heavyweight. he’s kinda beating around the bush, and he’s trying to bait him back down, and antagonize him a little bit. Jon doesn’t want to fight dc at heavyweight. there’s only a few guys he wants to fight that make sense.”

Luke Rockhold has his own interest in a fight with Jon Jones. Rockhold is set to face Jan Blachowicz, in his Light Heavyweight debut, also at UFC 239. If he is successful, a Rockhold vs Jones bout could be soon to follow.
