UFC 221 main event headlined by middleweight bout features Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero, the winner of the bout will be crowned interim champ at 185 pounds.
Robert Whittaker was originally scheduled to defend his title against Luke Rockhold at this event, but medical issues pulled him out from the card in January.
Luke Rockhold, a former UFC middleweight champion had a pretty fashionista entrance at UFC 221 open workout.
“Some people arrive in chariots; some people pick white horses. Here in Perth, I choose camels,”
If Luke Rockhold wins, he would get a shot at unifying the 185-pound belt against undisputed champion Robert Whittaker. Moreover, Rockhold is already talking about a change in division.
“(The weight cut) never gets any easier,” Rockhold told Submission Radio. “I’m getting older and my bones are getting thicker and it gets harder to get down in this weight. Having this open workout on a Friday, it’s tough. But I feel good, and I’ve got a great team around me. They have my nutrition down to a science. I’m ahead of schedule this time around, and I’ll be fine.”
“But 205 is imminent,” he said. “DC moving up to heavyweight, he’s not coming back, so I’ll be up there soon.”
