When the world asked if anyone would like to be locked in a cage with Cris “Cyborg” Santos, Miesha “Cupcake” Tate raised her hand to volunteer. The artist formerly known as “Takedown” Tate may be blessed with the gift of fearlessness. In a twisted game of paper-rock-scissors, is it possible that cupcake frosting on a stick beats Skynet manufactured cyborg arm?
Before Tate gets her 135 pound hands on Cyborg, she first has to get by Jessica Eye at UFC on Fox 16 this weekend in Chicago. With a win over Eye and a roll of the dice Tate could have the options of a third fight with Ronda Rousey or a Cyborg super-fight on the table for his next UFC bout agreement. Well played Cupcake.
Tate laid out her MMA career roadmap in a prefight interview with MMA Junkie.
“I think her and I are on the same page that if that opportunity presented itself at 140, we would both accept the fight.” Tate said. “As far as the logistics of it, I have no idea how that would work with the UFC. Obviously I’m fighting with the UFC, so I’m not going to leave to go over to Invicta and do a catchweight. It would have to happen inside the UFC octagon. They would have to agree to put on a catchweight of 140, which I don’t even know if they really do that anymore or if they would do that.”
