Liddell Says Jon Jones Can Learn How To Be A True Champion From Legend Like Me

Legendary former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell announced on Monday during an appearance on The MMA Hour that he plans on returning to MMA in hopes of setting a trilogy bout with fellow ex-UFC champ Tito Ortiz.

Whether this contest happens under Golden Boy promotion’s banner owned by Oscar De La Hoya or Bellator MMA remains to be seen. As De La Hoya revealed a few weeks back, he is starting a new MMA promotion alongside Liddell and planning to promote a trilogy bout between ‘the Iceman and Tito Ortiz.

After passing that, ‘The Iceman’ has interest to potentially challenging the former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. After getting wind of Liddell’s comment, Jones took to social media to respond to the UFC Legend.

True legend Liddell responds after a day to Jon’s jabs, check out below:

@JonnyBones I figure it’s a good place for a youngin like u to learn from a true legend and champion on how to really fight and conduct your life inside and outside the ring champions101 #respect #integrity

The idea of locking horns with Jon Jones is unlikely as UFC president Dana White isn’t fond of the idea of UFC Hall-of-Famer Liddell fighting again in the Octagon and refuse to promote trilogy under UFC banner.

The former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, regarded by some as the greatest mixed martial arts fighter of all time marred his career by run-ins with the law and multiple failed drug tests and currently facing a potentially lengthy suspension from USADA.
