Let’s consider Pat Curran for a moment. An underdog from the moment I first laid eyes on him as I was cageside taking pictures of the young Irishman as he knocked out Mike Ricci almost three years ago. Now he’s a seriously legit champ and someone who I think has to absolutely considered a top ten featherweight. Maybe higher. Probably higher. Let’s think about this for a moment: has his success come from the weight cut, or is Eddie Alvarez that good? All I know is that at this point, the rematch I want to see if Eddie Alvarez gets re-signed to Bellator is vs. Pat Curran — not Michael Chandler. Not yet. Curran has grown too much in the years since his loss to Eddie, and I want to see how Curran fights back at lightweight, if only for that one rematch, purely for sh*ts and giggles. Purely.
Tonight Pat Curran defended his featherweight title for the second time, and he performed like an absolute boss. Take a look at his guillotine from hell… Or Crystal Lake. Damn. Looks like Frodo will be visiting him soon.
