I don’t know about the rest of you but this Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix seems like it should have been done a very long time ago. It’s dragged on longer than an affair between a politican and his wife’s sister on a really bad day time soap opera. I just wish the entire thing would have been completed in one weekend. It could have been single elimination multiple fight grueling warrior style weekend of fighting. Overeem would have been able to complete his spot in the tournament before getting scooped up by the UFC and there would have been no chance of training injuries or having to call in replacements.
That didn’t happen though and after nearly a year and a half later we are finally going to witness the completion of this tournament. The first round featured a dramatic heartcrushing upset for all of the Fedor fiends via Antonio Silva and then Daniel Cormier had to step in to replace Overeem in the second round. Next Saturday, we can finally end all the heavyweight style teasing foreplay and achieve ultimate climax via the finale fight between Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett.
