Leon Edwards has something he never had before — plenty of options.

Edwards became the new welterweight champion following his epic fifth-round knockout win over Kamaru Usman at UFC 279 this past weekend.

The attention quickly turned to what would be next for Edwards, with UFC president Dana White suggesting the idea of a trilogy fight with Usman taking place in Wembley Stadium.

That’s something that particularly excites Edwards, but he also has other names on his mind.

That includes a certain Jorge Masvidal.

“I’ll run it back with Usman, but it has to be in London,” Edwards said on The MMA Hour. “Dana came out and said Wembley. That would be amazing, to headline Wembley with Usman would be amazing.

“If not, let Masvidal get a few wins. That would be a big fight as well. I would love to f*cking smack his head after him. But whoever, whenever. I’m top of the mountain, you know.”

Leon Edwards Would 100 Percent Give Nate Diaz A Shot

Other names that popped up were Colby Covington and Gilbert Burns.

However, when Ariel Helwani brought up the possibility of Nate Diaz, especially should he defeat Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 279 next month, Edwards was all in for giving him the shot in that scenario.

“Imagine the scenes! The scenes! I would 100 percent give Nate a shot,” Edwards said with excitement. “Nate’s a G, I always said it, even after the fight. The game has never changed him. If that does happen, then Nate is definitely getting the shot.”

Edwards defeated Diaz via unanimous decision in June last year.
