In fact if you’re Carlos Condit you’ve trained since you were in high school to be a professional cage fighter. Now at the 32 years of age Demain Maia just took you down, took your back, then took your neck and just like that you’re night, maybe your career, is over.
MMA is the cruelest sport.
At UFC 112 versus Anderson Silva, Demain Maia put on one of the worst performances in UFC title fight history. Since that resounding title loss, Maia would go on to lose four fights across two different weight classes. At 38 years of age who could have predicted Maia’s career resurgence?
Maia has now won six fights in a row and deserves another shot at UFC gold in 2017.
MMA is a forgiving sport.
