Korean Zombie: ‘I Was Told If I Win A Fight Over Frankie Edgar I Will Get A Title Shot.’

‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung Says UFC Promised Him A Title Shot If He Comes Out Victorious Over Frankie Edgar

UFC featherweight contender ‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung will make his long-awaited Octagon return at UFC Fight Night 139 on November 10 where he’ll clash against a former lightweight champion and two-time featherweight title challenger Frankie Edgar in Denver, Colorado.

A former title challenger Jung last fought in the main headliner of UFC Fight Night 104 back in February of 2017 where he knocked out Dennis Bermudez in the first round. ‘Korean Zombie’ has been on sidelines since following a knee injury he sustained during his preparation for a fight against Ricardo Lamas last July. Before that, he challenged a then champion Jose Aldo at UFC 163 but lost the bout via TKO in the fourth round. With a fight night is just a couple months away, Jung spoke to a media event where he said UFC promised him if he thwarts Frankie Edgar he’ll get a title shot opportunity next.

“I was told that if I win this fight, I will get a title shot,” Jung told Rank5 (via BJPenn.com). “I was fighting for myself in my twenties, but now I’m fighting for my family. Even though I do not have the same physical strength, I have amassed much more experience and know-how.”

Frankie Edgar last competed in April, where he beat Cub Swanson via unanimous decision and now he’s 23-6-1 overall.

Max Holloway is looking his way back to Octagon to defend his UFC featherweight title against Brian Ortega some time end of this year, probably in the main event of UFC 231 in December.

Do you think a winner of Jung vs. Edgar deserves a title shot against the winner of Holloway vs. Ortega?
