My buddy Tor Hamer is a heavyweight boxer in New York City. Last Wednesday he knocked out a guy who looked a lot like Kimbo Slice. Most people in the audience that didn’t know either boxer started chanting “Kimbo” as a form of social lubricant accompanying their $8.50 rounds of draft beer. It goes to show you how far Kimbo has come as a byproduct of YouTube and Zuffa marketing. Even though Kimbo isn’t competing in MMA anymore, he’s still on the minds of fight fans around the country and Spike TV hired him to help counterprogram tonight’s season 15 opener of The Ultimate Fighter with their library of licensed footage from previous seasons. Luckily, the UFC has also hired Kimbo to tell you that you should tune into FX instead of Kimbo’s own show on Spike TV, effectively asking Kimbo to counterprogram himself.
