Backstage at UFC Qatar, tensions flared between Khamzat Chimaev and Ian Machado Garry after Garry’s win over Belal Muhammad. Garry approached Arman Tsarukyan to congratulate him on his victory when Chimaev unexpectedly shoved him. Security quickly separated the fighters before the situation escalated further.
Garry addresses the incident
Garry stayed composed and spoke out after the confrontation.
“You are supposed to be a champion of this sport. Your friend just won. Do not ruin his moment. Arman, congratulations,” he told Chimaev.
Chimaev’s online escalation
The tension carried over to social media, where Chimaev posted a direct warning at Garry:
“White boy, you will not survive one minute in my world.”
The post was quickly deleted, but fans captured screenshots before it disappeared.

Chimaev explains his side
During the post-fight press conference, Chimaev detailed why he reacted the way he did:
“Do not punch somebody from behind. He is slapping my back. If you want to show respect, respectfully touch somebody,” he said.
He then criticized Garry’s approach:
“He came there to make some hype. You know that guy is trying to be Conor, but he is never gonna be Conor McGregor. He is a s— fighter.”
Garry fires back
Garry publicly dismissed Chimaev’s display as unnecessary bravado.
“‘I need to show the world I am tough, I need to show…’” he mocked.
“You are the champion of the world. Nobody needs to see you try to look tough. You do not need these anger issues. Be a man.”
He added: “It is little d*ck energy.”
With Chimaev’s deleted threat and Garry’s response, the UFC Qatar incident has become a major talking point. No fight between the two is currently scheduled, but the tension remains high both backstage and online, leaving fans speculating if this will eventually escalate into a matchup in the Octagon.
