Khabib’s Father Would Like To See A Boxing Rematch With Conor Mcgregor

Undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Father Says His Son Could Rematch Conor Mcgregor Under Boxing Rules

Former two division champion Conor McGregor may get a rematch with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov to avenge his loss but only in the boxing ring.

Irishman who lost the bout to Khabib via a fourth-round submission in the main headliner of UFC 229 last month and since then Mcgregor is asking for an immediate rematch.

In the wake of his win, Khabib challenged boxing legend Floyd Mayweather to a fight. Most recently Dana White said the only way Nurmagomedov will face Mayweather Jr. is if the showdown takes place in the Octagon.

It looks like ‘Notorious’ may get his wish granted as Khabib’s father Abdulmanap spoke to Russian newspaper Izvestia earlier this week and admitted that his son ‘Eagle’ is interested in a rematch with Conor Mcgregor under the boxing rules.

“As for the fight against Conor according to the rules of boxing, we are interested in such a fight,” Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov said (via Irish Mirror).

“Khabib showed that he is able to win the best drummers of mixed martial arts,” he added. “He talked about this before, but few believed it.

“However, after bright victories over Michael Johnson, Edson Barbosa and Conor, [people] begin to believe. Nurmagomedov is able to do it in the boxing ring. Khabib has all the skills to win by the rules of boxing. One of the key skills can be called endurance.”

Currently, both Mcgregor and Khabib are facing further sanctions from Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for their involvement in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl which erupted in the immediate aftermath of Eagle’s victory. Many fight fans have wondered what’s next for both UFC stars, even UFC president Dana White said any talk of the Irishman and Khabib’s next fight is on hold until the Commission rule out the final decision.

A potential boxing spectacle seems unlikely as both McGregor and Khabib are under UFC contract but a rematch under UFC banner is possible down the road.
