Khabib Nuragomedov Says If UFC Wants Money Fight, They Have To Pay Me Too
UFC fans are eagerly waiting to see Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor throw down inside the Octagon, with things almost close to finalization stage.
Irishman is coming off resolving his court case by accepting disorderly conduct, sentenced to five days community service and to attend three days of anger management for his antics at the Barclays Center back in April. He recently said that he is close to making an Octagon comeback, hopefully by the end of this year. Many believe his return fight will be against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title.
Earlier this week, Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz said negotiations are undergoing with the UFC to put together a PPV headlining fight between Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. With the main focus, there’s no way in hell Khabib gets less money than Nate Diaz.
UFC is keen to book this showdown for UFC 229 on October it, at the moment deal is not done yet. Recently speaking to the reporter Adam Glyn on the streets of New York, Khabib said UFC has to pay him his worth if they want Mcgregor fight or else he’ll look for Dustin Poirier fight:
“We’re just beginning negotiations,” Nurmagomedov said (via BloodyElbow). “I don’t know. It’s about UFC, it’s about Conor too, ‘cause they make decision but interesting situation. If they want to make money fight, they have to pay me, too. I’m not going to give him chance to use my name, Conor makes money, UFC makes money and I make $200,000. No way.”
“If they want me to fight on my current contract, I can fight but OK give me Dustin Poirier. I’m going to follow my contract. But if they want to use my name and use me to make money for Conor and the UFC, no way.”
“If you want a money fight, pay me money,” he added.
Khabib openly said he would love to face Mcgregor and teach him a lesson for what he did.
Also, Dagestani made it clear, Irishman doesn’t deserve a title fight due to his inactivity inside the Octagon, and this fight only happens if UFC compensates him well.
I hope they’re going to make this fight because I really want to change this guy’s face,” Nurmagomedov said. “I really want this. I really want to meet him alone inside the cage. Only me and him. [If] they want to use me, I am the undefeated, undisputed UFC lightweight champion, I no need him. He needs me.
“His last four fights is like 2-2, he don’t fight for two years, he don’t deserve this title shot. Dustin Poirier’s on the line, he deserves this. If they want to use me and make a lot of millions, use my name, no way. They want a money fight, please pay me.”
