Khabib Reveals UFC Will “100 Percent” Strip Conor McGregor’s Title

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will clash for UFC lightweight title bout in the UFC 223 headliner on April 7 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Khabib believes there is no confusion at UFC lightweight situation and said his contract states that he’s fighting for the ‘real’ belt: Conor McGregor’s belt.

Even, when UFC president Dana White announced the fight, he said that the Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov fight would be for the UFC lightweight championship.

Khabib Nurmagomedov while Speaking with TMZ Sports, he’s not sure he’ll ever get to face McGregor — nor is he sure McGregor will ever come back to MMA at all.

“When is Conor compete last time in MMA? I forget about this,” Nurmagomedov said. “Long time. He’s boxing guy. He’s good to stay in boxing, because you have to compete in MMA, like wrestling, grappling, conditioning 25 minutes — it’s like different. It’s very hard to him.

“They talk about (Floyd) Mayweather fight. I don’t think he gonna come back.”

Technically, Conor McGregor still holds the undisputed UFC lightweight title and UFC hasn’t stripped him yet, despite the fact he last fought in November 2016, when he scores the belt at UFC 205 over Eddie Alvarez.

Since that time, Ferguson defeated Kevin Lee at UFC 216 in October, where he earned the interim UFC lightweight champion.

Nurmagomedov cleared the situation:

“We’re going to fight [for McGregor’s] belt,” Nurmagomedov said. “The UFC strip his belt, now we’re going to fight for real belt, 100 percent. I have contract, like, real belt. What are they going to do? They have only one real belt. They have interim belt, and they have real belt. They send me contract.

“We’re going to fight with Tony Ferguson for real belt. I have contract.”

“They gonna strip this belt. I have contract for real belt. I don’t know, maybe they don’t want him upset because he make good money. maybe? I know that I’m gonna fight for the real belt because I have contract.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov confronted Dana White that he wouldn’t fight for the interim title and even yelled at white in the Octagon and then waited on him outside by his car after his win over Edson Barboza at UFC 219. It seems clear that he is fighting for a real belt, Why hasn’t the UFC officially stripped McGregor?
