Khabib Has Harsh Words For McGregor, Talks UFC Return

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov had some unkind words to say about Conor McGregor. Since the retirement announcement of the Irish superstar, Khabib has not held back.

As reported by, his continued Tuesday morning, when Khabib went on Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in Moscow to do a Q & A with Economics students. The topic of conversation naturally came to the topic of Khabib’s rival, McGregor. The two fought each other in November, following months of heated trash talk and build up. Khabib went on to win the bout via fourth round submission.

When asked about Conor’s retirement, Khabib had this to say, via Denis Geyko:

“Conor acts like a jealous wife, who says ‘I will leave’ all the time but then comes back.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov is displaying the same level of skepticism as the rest of the MMA community. The retirement announcement has been met with many calling it a negotiation tactic.

Khabib went on to discuss his possible return to the Octagon. He explained that he aims for a September return, but refuses to fight before his teammate Zubaira Tukhugov. This is doubling down on Khabib’s previously stated intentions. Tukhugov was handed a longer suspension from the athletic commission than Khabib, following their infamous UFC 229 post fight brawl. This was something that Khabib openly disagreed with, stating that he will stay out as long as his teammate.

When Khabib does return, it will likely be against the winner of April 13th’s UFC 236 main event between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, as stated in this Q & A.
