Khabib Nurmagomedov Talks About UFC 229 Post-Fight Brawl

Khabib Nurmagomedov: “Some People Say I Did A Good Thing, Others Say I Did A Bad Thing, But I Showed Everybody That They Can’t Confine An Eagle To A Cage”

In the case you didn’t watch UFC 229, Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor via submission. The Dagestani secured early takedowns in the first two rounds and dominated The Irishman on the ground. The whisper of hope appeared in the third. Conor landed few great punches and defended a takedown attempt. Yet, McGregor had to tap out in the fourth after Khabib secured a rear-naked choke!

But then we’ve seen one of the most disgraceful acts in the history of UFC! Khabib jumped out of the cage and attacked Conor’s BJJ coach Dillon Danis. Also, one of Eagle’s teammates leaped over the fence and sucker punched The Notorious. It escalated into a huge brawl!

Khabib’s father wasn’t happy about his behavior too. Abdulmanap promised to teach his son a lesson when he returns home. Khabib’s father has also taken the full responsibility for the incident!

Khabib apologized for his acts at the UFC post-fight press conference. Yet, it is hard to believe he feels sorry for his actions. He talked in Dagestan’s Anzhi Arena as soon as he returned home. He claims he was praying to God to be left alone with McGregor in the Octagon every day. Khabib describes that he was literally counting seconds to that moment. (via MMAFighting.com)

“I prayed to God for one thing, to be left alone in the cage with this clown,” Nurmagomedov said, courtesy of RT. “I asked him this every day. I prayed that we would have no injuries, that we would make weight, and regain our strength, and finally be locked in that cage. Because a lot was said outside that cage, and I said that once that octagon door is shut, I am not responsible for my actions.”

One thing is certain. Khabib Nurmagomedov won’t forget Conor’s insults and provocations. Maybe Abdulmanap is ready to forgive. But when it comes to The Eagle, it probably won’t happen. It looks like Khabib feels he did the right thing after the fight.

“The first thing I wanted to show him, is the difference between our people, and his people,” said Nurmagomedov. “We know our history, our ancestors, and what our people have been through. Nothing can break us.”

“And with what happened afterwards, some people say I did the wrong thing, others that I did the right thing. You can’t confine an eagle to a cage. And I showed them that.”

When it comes to John Kavanagh, he stated that he understands Khabib’s post-fight behavior. Unfortunately, NSAC might not be that kind. We will see how hard the suspension is going to be. Khabib Nurmagomedov still has chances of slipping with a fine!

But Dana White loves Conor McGregor as if he is his own son! He hasn’t done anything to punish The Irishman for UFC 223 hooligan bus attack. But this time, he didn’t give the belt to Khabib due to “security reasons”! Don’t be surprised if Dana White stripes The Eagle of the UFC Lightweight title! Who do you support here? How would you feel if someone insults your family and country all the time?
