- Khabib Numagomedov is planning to visit Cain Velasquez in jail
- “The Eagle” thinks the former UFC heavyweight champ doesn’t deserve to be behind bars
Khabib Nurmagomedov has been one of the UFC personalities who have been expressing their support for Cain Velasquez. However, none of it seemed to matter as the former UFC heavyweight champion is still in jail, having been denied bail once again.
Despite being busy being the boss of Eagle FC, Nurmagomedov yearns to find time to see Velasquez in person.
Visiting an old pal
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Nurmagomedov said he has been talking to people and trying to set a date sooner rather than later to pay Velasquez a visit in San Jose.
“Yesterday, I was talking with coach,” he revealed. “I tell him any chance or is it possible to go and see him in jail? In Russia, we can go and see anybody like I asked him because I don’t know the law here in the U.S. I really wanna go to see him. After a couple of days, I’m gonna be in San Jose. I wanna go to see him, shake his hand, give him good energy.”
Cain just did what any family man would do
For context, Velasquez was jailed for shooting a man accused of allegedly molesting a family member of his. The trial is still ongoing, but for Nurmagomedov, the justice system has not been fair to Velasquez.
“Anybody in the world who respects himself, who loves his family — he’s gonna do same thing,” the former UFC lightweight champ passionately said. “C’mon, nobody gonna think about law or something when you have something about your family. You have to protect your family.”
“This is not fair to sit in jail and other guy, he’s outside,” he stressed. “What about other guy? Put this guy in jail, too! He’s more dangerous for people than Cain Velasquez. Never in his life, he’s 40-years-old, never in his life did he have a problem in social, you know, outside with people. He’s the most respectful guy I’ve ever seen in my life. I was training with him more than 10 years, I know his family, everybody.”
At this point, Nurmagomedov, as well as some of Velasquez’s close friends, could only hope things would take a huge turn.
Velasquez will be back in trial on June 10.
