Khabib Nurmagomedov Announces Return To Fighting, Sort Of – MMA Twitter Reacts

Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is returning to the cage in a cryptic sort of way with metaverse fight.

It seems as though Khabib Nurmagomedov is returning to fighting but not the way the MMA community had hoped for.

It has been nearly 3 years since Khabib Nurmagomedov decided to retire from the UFC. The former lightweight champion dominated his peers throughout his 10+ years of fighting. Nurmagomedov came to the UFC in 2012 and immediately begin to turn heads. He remained undefeated throughout his UFC career and became champion in 2018. He defended his title three times before ultimately deciding to retire following a request from his mother. Since his retirement fans and the UFC brass have been urging him to return. Now it seems that fans may be getting their wish after all although maybe not as they had hoped.

Nurmagomedov took to social media this weekend to send out a cryptic message to his fans. It seems that he will be returning to fighting although not in person. Nurmagomedov has been working with a company called Gameplan in which he will be fighting against himself in the Metaverse.

Khabib Nurmagomedov will be fighting in the Metaverse

Since walking away from the fighting side of mixed martial arts Nurmagomedov has stayed close to the sport. He started his own promotion called Eagle Fighting Championship and also stayed on to coach and corner some of his teammates. Over the last several months he has walked back his involvement in the MMA fighting game. He decided to spend more time with his family and focus on other business opportunities. It seems that this Gameplan is one of his next ventures.

Back in April, Nurmagomedov teased that he was preparing for something in July. It could possibly be this Metaverse fight. Not many details were given at this time but MMA fans are sure to be keeping an eye out to see just what kind of fighting shape Nurmagomedov is in now. And perhaps remain hopeful that one day he will return to the Octagon.

Is Khabib a bigger sell out then Conor at this point? At least we expect Conor to sell booze and watches, and what not but Khabib goes from retiring because of his “mom” to selling everything under the sun. What’s next? Fitroo tampons?
