Khabib Nurmagomedov Talks UFC 229 Brawl, Rematch With McGregor

Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to face Dustin Poirier at UFC 242. Ahead of that bout, he discussed his last fight, with Conor McGregor, and his desire to no longer fight in Las Vegas.

When Khabib returns at UFC 242, this will be his first fight since November. This is due to having to serve a Nevada Sate Athletic Commission suspension, following a post-fight brawl. Following his victory over McGregor, he jumped the cage to attack McGregor’s team, inciting a brawl.

Despite McGregor’s previous antics that fired up “The Eagle,” Khabib was punished substantially more than the Irishman. He and his team received higher fines, and longer suspensions.

In an interview with BT Sport, Khabib discusses the events of UFC 229. He was asked about his feelings on the city, and what happened there.

“What happen in vegas stay in vegas. Nothing come out, you know. And everybody see what happen in vegas, you know. Victory my side, you know. We smash him, we smash all his team.

About city, i don’t know. I don’t want to fight in vegas anymore because they take his money, and they take my money ten more times than his money. I don’t want to fight in Vegas. If some great fight happen in vegas, I’m going to go and just watch but i don’t want to fight anymore in vegas.”

Khabib went on to talk about what it would take to give McGregor a rematch. However, he was fairly dismissal of the Irish superstar.

“If he deserve, yes. But right now I’m not interested. Why i need rematch? For what?”

Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to fight interim champ Dustin Poirier, in Abu Dhabi, this September. Hopefully, he sticks to his word and does not take a fight with McGregor, before facing more deserving contenders.
