Kenny Florian: GSP Will Fight Again Preferably With Khabib Or Conor

Former UFC fighter and UFC commentator Kenny Florian believes Georges St-Pierre will return to the Octagon for a super fight.

After winning the UFC lightweight title at UFC 223, undefeated Russian grappler Khabib Nurmagomedov called out former welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre. But St-Pierre who told MMAfighting that Khabib got unfinished business with the UFC and expressed he doesn’t have any intention of fighting Khabib in the future.

St-Pierre who return to the famed Octagon after four years of hiatus from the sport to take on Michael Bisping and claim the middleweight title at UFC 217. After a month later, St-Pierre vacated the title citing he needs time to recover from a recent colitis diagnosis.

No doubt St-Pierre who is the biggest PPV draw for the company, and he is one of the top names on the minds of any opponent between 155 to 185 lbs division looking for a money fight. However, the decorated fighters return is still in the air, but Florian recently spoke to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, says St-Pierre will surely return.

“I think he’s going to fight in some kind of superfight scenario,” Florian responded, when asked if GSP would return to the cage. “I don’t think it’s going to be against a champion necessarily, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some kind of non-title fight that’s going to be big, and why not?

“Again, if there is one guy who deserves it, it’s Georges St-Pierre. He’s a guy that’s proven time and time again that he’s a big pay-per-view star and I think there are a lot of fun fights that you can make as well.”

“Who would he fight?” Florian continued. “I think someone like a Khabib Nurmagomedov would be interesting. I don’t know if they’d make it a catch weight or something like that, but another person of course would be Conor McGregor.

“I think no matter what way you look at it those are the two biggest names in the sport. You’d have the biggest name in the sport from a past generation taking on the current biggest name, Conor McGregor. I think that would be a mega fight.”

St-Pierre appeared on MMA Hour back in March, on being asked about a potential super fight with McGregor, where GSP seemed bit disinterested. He acknowledges the fight would be a biggest PPV draw but money isn’t the driving factor behind his decision to return. St-Pierre implies a victory over Irishman would not do much for his legacy as a fighter in MMA world.

Conor Mcgregor and his camp didn’t show any intentions to fight with St-Pierre; however, Mcgregor is so desperate to lock horns with Nurmagomedov that he is prepared to “do it for peanuts” and pass up on a potential UFC payday.

Mcgregor who is currently facing assault charges and ordered to return to court on June 14 for his bus rampage at UFC 223.

If St-Pierre returns to Octagon, who do you think he should fight next?
