Ken Shamrock admits to using steroids, and then develops a plan to combat PEDs in MMA

Although I’ve made this point on MiddleEasy in the past, let me make this abundantly clear once more in 2014.

Everything is a performance enhancer.

Having high-tech exercise equipment in climate-controlled environment is a performance enhancer in comparison to a fighter from Brazil that is training on ratty leather bags. A nutritional plan designed by a well-known doctor with the latest in mineral supplements is a performance enhancer when compared to a fighter from Russia that lives off a steady diet of chicken and steak.

There are truly only two ways to combat the advent of ‘PEDs’ in the sport of MMA:
1.) Force all fighters to train under the same nutritional and environmental conditions, coached by trainers that have been taught a curriculum approved by the athletic commission.
2.) Let all nutritional supplements, TRT, and steroids be legal in the sport.

Of course the second option seems the most reasonable, since it wouldn’t involve Draconian measures like the first method I suggested. Granted, it’s not what I think, it’s what Ken Shamrock thinks in this Inside MMA video. Check it out.
