Kelvin Gastelum Doesn’t Believe He Would Accept Anything But A Title Shot

Before UFC 224 showdown versus Ronaldo Souza, Kelvin Gastelum wanted a first-round KO, believing this is the only way to clear the road to the Middleweight title shot.

However, in a really great showdown of two awesome ground fighters, Kelvin Gastelum ended the fight winning number-two ranked Jacare via split decision. Now he has set another goal – he claims he won’t accept anything but 185 lbs title fight. (via bloodyelbow.com)

“I definitely feel like a title shot should be next,” Gastelum during the UFC 224 post-fight press conference (via MMA Fighting). “I don’t think I’d accept any other fight than the title shot. I’m the most active middleweight there has been. All the guys (I’ve beat) are top-10 and former champions, so I feel like I deserve it.”

“I definitely feel I deserve the shot. So I definitely feel like I will sit out until my shot is next.”

The Middleweight title match is set for UFC 225, where Robert Whittaker will defend it in a rematch versus Yoel Romero. At least we hope he will if Romero passes the weight this time, cause if the opposite happens, Whittaker said he won’t face The Soldier Of God. It will take place on June 9th in Chicago.
