From America’s sweetheart to American Nightmare in the span of one whole interview? Props to Kayla Harrison. The thing that stands out about this interview is not Harrison’s confidence, gains in the weight room, or ease with dealing with the media.

It’s that ratio though. As of writing this very important post, the ‘Kayla Harrison: ‘I’m a female Khabib but better’ | Now or Never’ video had a like/dislike ratio of roughly 300 to 900. For every one person who hit like on the video, two more people pounded the dislike button.

Harrison is getting so much hate off a couple of quotes. These are quotes she might not even be wrong about in the end.

A simple question about who’s MMA game does Harrison’s compares her’s to is given a pretty straight response. Harrison believes she’s like a female Khabib Nurmagomedov, only better. Unbeaten UFC lightweight champion? Yeah, Kayla Harrison says she’s better than him.

Before the pitchforks come out, Harrison thinks she has the grappling edge over Khabib and is better with her submissions. Levels of competition withstanding, Harrison is a two time Olympic gold medalist in Judo and she herself works at American Top Team for MMA.

Maybe she could be right? Khabib isn’t exactly a popular dude, yet Harrison’s confidence has Internet fans rushing out to defend their UFC champion. A very Internet thing to do.

Even more polarizing than Khabib is Ronda Rousey. Harrisson sounds flat offended when the hosts ask her to compare her Judo career to Ronda’s. On a pure numbers basis, Kayla has both a longer and more storied career than Ronda. But no beef as the two Alphas were both former training partners and roommates together back in the day.

How do you turn both Ronda Rousey and Khabib Nurmagomedov into sympathetic figures? Just ask Kayla Harrison two questions and hit record apparently.
