Kayla Harrison has yet to put pen to paper but that’s about to change.

Harrison is regarded as the hottest free agent in MMA. The 2021 and 2019 PFL Women’s Lightweight Champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist has been weighing her options. The UFC has expressed interest in bringing Harrison onboard but the PFL also hopes to keep her.

Kayla Harrison Deal Imminent

Appearing on The MMA Hour, Kayla Harrison told Ariel Helwani that while she can’t get into details yet, she is close to signing a deal.

“No, it has not been a lot of fun [laughs]. I got a call like three minutes before this that my lawyer called. He saw that I was gonna be on your show and he said, ‘Do not say anything.’ I haven’t signed the contract yet. My managers and my lawyer are dealing with it. I think you’re a day too early maybe. It’s a very sensitive issue so I’m not gonna comment on it right now but there’ve been multiple offers. It’s almost done, thank god.”

Has PFL Held Kayla Harrison Back?

Harrison’s goal is to get to a level where fans are putting her in the same category that Ronda Rousey was at during her peak. When asked if being with PFL has held her back, Harrison said the following:

“I don’t know. Again, the PFL’s been so good to me. So, I actually had a talk with someone not too long ago and at one point another promotion, right after my second Olympics, a promotion had offered me a developmental contract but it was like [35K to show and 35K to win] or something.

“Not money that my coaches felt was my value and so, I didn’t take it. Obviously, the PFL came in and they’ve taken great care of me from day one. I think they’ve valued me as a fighter and a name and a face of their promotion. What would’ve happened if I had gone that route? Who knows?”
