Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez November 12th on FOX! Scream around like a little girl, it’s cool. You’ve earned it. It’s Friday, let those emotions show. We just got one of the biggest heavyweight title matches in the history of MMA for free on FOX that was announced on the UFC conference call just minutes ago. There will only be one fight on the one-hour UFC on FOX premiere, so if this bout ends in the first round — we can only assume there will be a lot of post-fight coverage. In fact, on the conference call (which I’m still listening to) Dana White hasn’t figured out what will happen with the other fights on the card. One of the reasons why Dana (and FOX) chose to go with a one-hour fight was partially to not compete with the Pacquiao/Marquez card going down roughly around the same time slot. As far as people in the UK, it looks like you’re going to have to wait until the last minute to find out what channel the event will air on. The San Jose show (the original show JDS vs. Cain was scheduled to go down) will still happen, but no fights have been announced yet. Dana said it was the easiest conversation he’s had with two fighters regarding yanking them off PPV and putting them on regular television. The UFC will produce the event, not FOX. A red carpet and tailgate party will launch the event, Superbowl style according to David Hill.
On the conference call, Dana White says that he will bet everything that the fight between JDS vs. Cain Velasquez will not be boring. Dana also said the rumors of Brock getting ready to retire is ridiculous.
Tickets go on sale next Friday at The Honda Center.
