- Julianna Pena talked about Ronda Rousey ahead of Wrestlemania 38
- The women’s bantamweight champ is urging Rousey to return to the UFC and face her
Julianna Pena was in Texas to watch WWE’s massive event, Wrestlemania 38. As expected, the reigning bantamweight champion was quizzed to share her thoughts on UFC icon-turned-WWE star Ronda Rousey. Apparently, Pena has not changed her stance on a potential fight with Rousey.
Dream matchup then, dream matchup now
In a quick interview with The Schmo, Pena reiterated that she’ll fight anybody in front of her. However, she still dreams of sharing the octagon with Rousey even to this day.
“I think I’ve said many times, I’ll fight whoever they want me to fight as long as I’m getting paid,” Pena stressed. “I’ll fight ‘The Hulk’ if you pay me.”
“Well they always asked me who’s my dream matchup,” she added. “Ronda’s definitely it for me. I would love that fight, I was calling for it after I won The Ulitmate Fighter. I was calling for it after I won a few times after winning The Ultimate Fighter. I mean it’s a dream matchup for me and I would love to welcome her back into the division.”
Pena takes Wrestlemania 38 results into consideration
Pena also revealed that she is friends with WWE legend Ric Flair and she’s rooting for his daughter Charlotte in her title fight against Rousey at Wrestlemania 38. According to “The Venezuelan Vixen,” she’ll call out “Rowdy” once again if Charlotte ended up beating her.
“I’m excited. I mean I’m super excited. Obviously, they already know what’s gonna happen and who’s gonna win but I think it would be awesome for Charlotte to maybe even beat her father’s record and be a champion over 16 times,” the champ admitted. “I think that would be incredible for Charlotte.”
“When Charlotte defends her title and she beats Ronda it’s just here to pour a little salt on the wound and say ‘hey Ronda come back to this side, come back to MMA, come back to the real world, come back to where you made it all happen and where you got the division started,” she continued. “I want you Ronda! I want to fight you! Come back to the UFC and fight me!”
Flair smoked Rousey at Wrestlemania 38. However, it is yet to be known whether the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion will consider making a UFC comeback.
