Julianna Pena went in on the judges from The Ultimate Fighter.
‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ is set to take on Amanda Nunes at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on July 30 at UFC 277. Pena shocked the world when she pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the UFC. She dethroned Nunes last December at UFC 269.
The bad blood between the ladies was far from over as Nunes booked the fastest opportunity to regain her title.
Julianna Pena bashes judges from The Ultimate Fighter
In an interview with The Schmo, Julianna Pena shared her thoughts on the judges for The Ultimate Fighter. Pena coached the latest season of the show opposite Amanda Nunes ahead of their highly awaited rematch at UFC 277. She was not a fan of what she saw and didn’t hesitate to let her feelings be known.
“Honestly, these fights are nuts. You see what these judges are doing to these fighters? It’s horrible.”
Talking about Hannah Guy’s bout not going to a third round even when the UFC president Dana White agreed with it, Pena answered in the affirmative.
“These judges are ruining peoples’ lives and I have one last thing to say on that on this for last week’s episode and this week’s episode, real MMA fights are three rounds, not two rounds so it deserves to go to a third round in my opinion but that’s just me.
When asked about experimenting with an open scoring format, Pena reinforced her conviction of having fights go three rounds.
“It should absolutely be open for discussion but the other thing that should be open for discussion is quit with these free exhibition matches on The Ultimate Fighter. They should be going three rounds no matter.”
Pena discusses beef with Amanda Nunes
‘The Lioness’ had recently hit out at Pena for her lack of trash-talking during the production of the show. Nunes expected more from her adversary and was surprised at what she received.
Pena explained her approach saying that she said enough with the win.
“I didn’t really have anything to say, I won, that’s all I needed to say. If she had something to say she should’ve spoke up and said it louder. I saw on episode one she said something to me but she was mumbling. They had to subtitle it and I didn’t even hear the girl so I was like I’m right here so if you have something to say, say it.
“I would’ve definitely obliged but I didn’t hear her.”
Pena is ready to face the best version of Nunes, who’s expected to be fired up for her second fight with Pena.
“This is going to be the biggest, strongest, toughest, fastest, scariest Amanda Nunes that we’ve ever seen and I am absolutely ready for anything and everything.
