Josh Thomson says the WEC was weak and needed to merge to UFC

Before we go on, it would be an incredible disservice if I didn’t tell you who Josh Thomson was standing next to in this picture. Her name is Meredith Divita and she’s employed by Knoxx Gear. Occasionally, she interviews fighters sponsored by the company, but for the most part she spends most of her time looking like this. There, now you have someone else to ogle over for the remainder of the year.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Sun, Josh Thomson says the entire reason why the WEC merged with the UFC was due to the company going ‘under’.

“They made it sound so great that a company went under. The simple fact of the matter was that the WEC failed and they put it with the UFC to carry it.

“To compare WEC lightweights to Strikeforce and the UFC is not fair because if they were that good, they would have been fighting for the UFC. I think the world of (Jamie) Varner, but I beat Hermes (Franca) and Hermes beat Varner. Varner was the WEC champ for awhile. So, where does that leave us?”

My old roommate told me the same thing last weekend, but I chose not to listen to him based on the number of times I’ve thrown him in a bed of cactus when he was drunk. All credibility is lost when you find yourself drunk and covered in spines in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. [Source]
