Josh Hokit found a fast way to get attention at UFC 327 media day, and none of it had much to do with his actual fight. Before taking questions, the unbeaten heavyweight got into a brief verbal clash with Jiri Prochazka in the hotel lobby.
Video from the scene showed Prochazka telling Hokit to stay where he was while Hokit waved around a prop lightsaber and shouted about cutting him up and stitching his head onto Alex Pereira’s body. It was a strange scene from the start, and it only got worse once Hokit reached the microphone.
On stage, Hokit launched into a rant about taking out the division’s top names and turning them into a so-called “human centipede.” The whole thing stopped being about his fight and turned into a messy stunt. It got even uglier when he started leaning into racist Latin American stereotypes while trying to play a character.

Hokit has a real fight in front of him, but the stunt swallowed the room
The odd part is that Hokit did not need this kind of act to get noticed. He is undefeated and heading into the biggest fight of his career against Curtis Blaydes, a longtime heavyweight contender with proven wrestling and top control. That matchup alone should have carried his media day.
Instead, the focus shifted to the lobby scene, the onstage rant, and the failed attempt to turn UFC 327 media day into a circus. Prochazka never gave him much back, and neither did Carlos Ulberg, who also brushed him off later. That made the whole thing look even more forced.
The timing was also strange because Prochazka already has enough on his plate. He is set to fight Carlos Ulberg after the light heavyweight title picture changed when Pereira moved up. Hokit is not in his division and not part of that story.
Hokit can still make all of this matter if he beats Blaydes on Saturday. But if the goal was to sell himself as a serious threat, this was a bad way to do it.
