There’s no reason why Los Angeles County shouldn’t allow Josh Barnett to carry a double-bladed battle axe with a woven leather handle whenever he pleases. Josh Barnett is the closest thing the world has to a Dragonborn. If you’ve never played Skyrim then you simply won’t understand that. In short, Dragonborn is a special individual that can rock an iron forged helmet adorned with horns and still be accepted in society. The last time I encountered Barnett was in Dallas, TX after he made quick work of Brett Rogers at the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix. We shared cookies, then talked about how amazing the cookies were. Yeah, it’s somewhat anti-climatic — surely not the type of behavior a bloodthirsty Nordic viking would exhibit.
Barnett is still the guy to beat. He’s been that guy ever since Affliction Trilogy was scheduled to go down over three years ago. While Strikeforce may be on its way out, one can easily assume the Warmaster will be making his way back inside the Octagon at some point in 2013. Our buds at MMANytt caught up with Barnett (and his newly acquired mohawk) at a club in Los Angeles to get his take on a variety of topics, including the end of Strikeforce.
