Jose Aldo’s Post-Mendes UFC 179 Face Looks Pretty Rough

I feel like everyone is talking about Conor McGregor right now and how last night should have been the Jose Aldo/Conor McGregor faceoff and that we shouldn’t be talking about Conor McGregor vs. Dennis Siver. It’s hard not to agree, considering that Conor McGregor is one of the few homegrown UFC stars in a very, very long time. Why else did they fly McGregor out to Brazil and hold a Q&A with him in front of fans if they weren’t going to build up to him fighting Aldo yet?

I’m not sure how he’d do against Aldo at this point, but this is the path that they have set McGregor on, this is his fate and his destiny, they are possibly pissing money away by putting him up against a tough guy who might be able to on a good night knock him out. The fans want to see the Aldo fight, so just make it happen already.

Aldo put on a tremendous performance last night against Chad Mendes, with Mendes of course holding his own against the UFC Featherweight Champion. Jose Aldo walked away with his hand raised in victory, but many were impressed with the heroic performance by Mendes as well. Rightfully so if you look at Jose Aldo’s face after the fight. I mean, that is the face of a man who took a serious beating. It is also the face of a man who gave a serious beating.

McGregor, on the other hand, did more to promote a possible fight than the UFC did with one photo on his Twitter.
