Jorge Masvidal says he’s doing everything possible to earn a place on UFC’s planned White House fight card — including reaching out directly to Donald Trump.
The retired fighter and former “BMF” titleholder shared that he’s been training again and hopes to compete in 2026 when UFC reportedly stages its first event at the White House.
Masvidal, who turns 41 next month, hasn’t competed in mixed martial arts since his decision loss to Gilbert Burns in April 2023. Since retiring from the UFC, he’s taken part in two professional boxing bouts and has remained active in combat sports promotion.
Despite his recent losing streak before stepping away from the Octagon, “Gamebred” believes he still has something to offer if given the chance to fight again.
Masvidal claims he called Trump for help landing spot
During a conversation with Olympic gold medalist and former UFC champion Henry Cejudo, Masvidal revealed that he’s personally reached out to the former U.S. President, hoping to secure a place on the card.
“I’ve been training for like two, three months now. I’m calling Trump and everybody — you got to get me on this card,” said Masvidal in the interview.
He added that he’s focused and preparing seriously for a potential return, saying he’s been staying disciplined while waiting for the right opportunity to appear.
“I’m just staying focused, staying in shape; hopefully everything works out,” he continued.

Masvidal also expressed interest in settling his long-standing rivalry with current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards — a feud that dates back to their backstage altercation in 2019 in London.
“I’m still always down to fight Leon [Edwards] just ’cause we got all the history,” said Masvidal.
“I’ve never had any ill will towards Leon and I still don’t have ill will towards him, but I’d still love to punch him in the face and just settle all that.”
He emphasized that even if a fight with Edwards doesn’t happen, he’s open to facing any opponent who’s willing to engage in a brawl.
“If it’s not Leon, just give me somebody that’s going to come and fight. Let’s throw down for the President.”
Masvidal’s name joins a growing list of fighters lobbying for a spot on the rumored White House event, which UFC President Dana White and Donald Trump have reportedly discussed for 2026.
Given his close public friendship with Trump and popularity among fans, Masvidal could be a strong promotional choice if he officially returns.
