Jorge Masvidal responds to Michel Pereira’s claims.

Masvidal has been in the headlines a lot so far in 2022. On Saturday, after Pereira’s split decision win over Santiago Ponzinibbio, he told the media that he would like to fight Masvidal because he sent a ‘prayer hands’ emoji to his wife, Gina Amir.

Pereira’s accusation

“So, he sent an emoji to my wife, the emoji with the two hands together like this, a little ‘amen,’” Pereira said during his post-fight interview. “He sent it to my wife, he didn’t send it to me. I never actually crossed paths with him, I never had the chance to ask him. So I figured, I really want to understand, but might as well understand inside the octagon. So we’ll just settle it over there.”

Masvidal’s response

On Sunday, Masvidal responded on Twitter to Pereira’s claims, and he brought proof.

“How crazy a world and how far has society fallen that this idiot @UfcPereira would use his wife to hopefully 1 day get a paycheck and create a fake narrative to try and get a fight with me when clearly he sees she slid in my dm? Wishing you guys the best #marriagecounselor”

It appears that Pereira’s wife was the one who contacted Masivdal first through an Instagram story reply, and Masvidal eventually responded four days later.

Pereira’s wife responds

Amir would write on her Instagram before turning her profile private that it is her business account and that her message to Masvidal was a few years before meeting Pereira.

“Society is looking for excitement and unfortunately drama sells – twisting the narrative to create a story that is false. I have never and would never do anything to disrespect my marriage or my husband. This account, as you can see, is a business account and more than one person has access to it. This is not even the way I would speak. Not to mention it is from years ago and before I even knew Michel.”

MMA Drama…it never gets old, and it’s never a stale day.

Pereira is now riding a five-fight win streak after his win at UFC Vegas 55.  He also called out Nate Diaz and said he would also fight Stephen Thompson.
