Masvidal vs Askren Set For July Following Back And Forth On Social Media

It did not take long for Jorge Masvidal’s call out of Ben Askren to work. Following a video posted to social media, the two are now scheduled to fight.

Jorge Masvidal has been a busy man. Following a second round KO of Darren Till, and a subsequent delivery of a three piece and a soda, Masvidal was looking for a quick turnaround. Although there was interest in Leon Edwards, due to their altercation, Dana White expressed interest in booking Masvidal vs Ben Askren.

It was not long after this, that Jorge Masvidal took to social media to issue his message to Askren. In the video, he referred to Askren as a “little sl–t,” and said that Askren ran away from him in a hotel.

Responding to this, Ben Akren took to Twitter to dismiss the claims made by Gamebred. “Funky” would say that the incident in the hotel Masvidal referred to was false. He explained having several witnesses to corroborate this.

Following this, Ariel Helwani posted to Twitter to say that the two had verbally agreed to fight. This was met with excitement. However, the UFC is struggling to find an appropriate date for the bout. Both fighters are eyeballing July 6th, while the UFC is wanting June 8th. However, it seems that the fight is a sure thing.

Askren is coming off a win over Robbie Lawler. Masvidal is looking to continue momentum following the aforementioned victory of Darren Till. This fight seems like exactly what the two want, and is a bout fans would love to see.
