The Rivalry Between Jorge Masvidal And Ben Askren Is Getting Crazier
Jorge Masvidal’s stock goes much higher when he knocked out former Welterweight title contender Darren Till at UFC London last month. He isn’t done here as ‘Gamebred’ got into a fist fight with Leon Edwards backstage after the win and ended up receiving a ‘Three-Piece With Soda’ for the mess.
There were some rumblings that Masvidal may get to face Leon Edwards after there backstage altercation. However, UFC pass on to that idea and went on to book ‘Gamebred’ against former ONE and Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren for July 6th’s stacked UFC 239 PPV event.
Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show recently, Masvidal claims UFC told him he’d get a title fight after beating brash Ben Askren at UFC 239.

‘Funky’ acknowledges Jorge Masvidal’s comments and sends out a harsh response in return stating why ‘Gamebred’ accepted this fight.
Well they had to dangle some type of Carrot to get him to agree to take a beating. https://t.co/jMwBQkkrxm

Askren made his promotional debut at UFC 235 back in March where he scored a controversial submission win over former 170-pound champ Robbie Lawler. The controversy made headlines however later it was revealed that Lawler didn’t tap out, but he gave a thumb up to referee Herb Dean that he’s ok. Since then Askren is staying relevant by beefing up with different fighters on social media.
The winner of the fight would go on to take on the winner of the upcoming title fight between Colby Covington and Kamaru Usman.
