UFC lightweight Jordan Leavitt had originally rejected the fight against Paddy Pimblett.

Jordan Leavitt has taken the mixed martial arts media by storm after the announcement of his next fight was made public. Taking on one of the hottest properties in the UFC, Leavitt will face Pimblett on the UFC London card in July.

Jordan Leavitt initially turned down the fight

With an aim to compete four times within 12 months, Leavitt has been looking to cross off the remaining two on his list. ‘The Monkey King’ will face fan favorite Paddy Pimblett in his home country this July. Leavitt had previously talked about being looked at as an easy fight for ‘The Baddy’.

In a recent appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Jordan Leavitt revealed that he had initially turned down the fight.

“I was just surprised when I got the call. I was excited because I’m always excited for a fight. And I had to initially say no because they were like, ‘you want to fight in July in England?’. I’m like, ‘no’.

“Then an hour later they’re like, ‘are you sure?’. I’m like, ‘yeah, I hate to travel, I fought four weeks ago, I’m fine’. But it’s Paddy Pimblett, and I’m like, ‘okay, I think I could travel’.”

Leavitt reveals why he twerks after a win

Coming off as an aloof guy who prefers to keep to himself, Leavitt celebrates in a manner unlike any other after a win. ‘The Monkey King’ has shown off his twerking abilities after a victory along with other dance moves.

When probed by the interviewer about the origins of his peculiar ways, Jordan Leavitt revealed the reason for his celebrations.

“Honestly, everything I do after my fights is like a result of a bet I made during camp. I bet you what, ‘imagine if you did the dirty dancing lift, wouldn’t that be ridiculous?’, and I’m like, ‘bet’. And then I do it, as a joke, we’re practicing it backstage.

“What if someone twerked after a fight? I’m like, ‘I could do that. That’d be pretty funny’. It’s always my friends, at the gym like all my syndicate. We’re a pretty colorful team.”

Leavitt will be gearing up to clash with Paddy Pimblett in July. There have been no official announcements regarding the date or venue of the event but it is expected to be a UFC Fight Night event with the card being hosted in London.
