Former UFC star Jon Jones has revealed he is still in talks to fight at a UFC event on the White House grounds.

Jones retired last year after long negotiations with the UFC over a potential bout with interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall did not reach agreement. Shortly after, President Donald Trump announced the UFC would host a special event at the White House. Jones immediately un-retired and expressed interest in participating.

Obstacles to the White House Fight

UFC president Dana White has repeatedly said the promotion cannot fully rely on Jones for such a major event.

Plans for a matchup with Alex Pereira, which both fighters actively campaigned for, have not moved forward. Additionally, Jones has been managing severe hip arthritis, making training and fighting difficult.

Despite these issues, he remains hopeful.

Speaking to Fans

On Saturday evening, Jones met fans at The Brook Casino. Addressing his MMA future, he said:

“I’m in negotiations with the UFC about this White House thing, as well. I’m a very, very, very proud American, and I cannot wait to represent one more time. So, we’ll see what happens.”

This confirms that Jones is actively pursuing one more fight even after retiring and dealing with hip issues.

The UFC recently announced that Alex Pereira has vacated the light heavyweight title. While Pereira’s next fight is not yet confirmed, there are rumors he could move to heavyweight. This leaves the possibility that a fight between Jones and Pereira could still be arranged, though nothing is official.
