Jon Jones is getting locked and loaded for his UFC return.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion in action. Jones hasn’t fought since defeating Dominick Reyes back in Feb. 2020. Since then, he’s vacated his 205 title in search of heavyweight gold.
Jones Is Ready To Compete
Nearing the end of this year, hope was almost all lost that Jones wouldn’t compete in 2022. However, ‘Bones’ says he is ready for a fight with a former UFC Heavyweight Champion at UFC 282.
“I’m preparing to fight Stipe December 10 in Las Vegas,” Jones wrote on Tuesday. “Not really sure what’s going on between Stipe and the UFC but I’m ready to compete! I’m going to control what I can and stay in shape.”
Jones has been pushing for a fight with Stipe Miocic for quite some time now. Miocic is really the only option for Jones’ heavyweight debut, other than current heavyweight kingpin Francis Ngannou who won’t be back until next year.
White Had Other Plans
While Jones is still wanting to return at UFC 282, it’s really up to the UFC brass to make that happen… Just last week, UFC President Dana White pushed the idea to the side, citing we won’t see Jones until 2023.
“I’m hoping that we get him back early in the spring.” White told The Mac Life.
With the clock ticking, we’ll see if Jon Jones makes his return before the end of the year.
