Jon Jones shared a strong reaction on social media after the UFC revealed the lineup for a special fight card connected to the White House. The former champion noticed that his name was not part of the announced bouts, even though he had earlier spoken about wanting to compete on the event.
Several messages appeared on his account soon after the fight card became public. Those posts were later removed, but they quickly spread among fans online.
One of his first messages questioned the situation.
“So all of this negotiating was complete bullshit, is that what you want me to agree to publicly?”
He then wrote another short line showing his confusion.
“I’m released from the UFC?!!”
Major fights set for the event
The special card will feature some of the biggest names in the sport.
Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje are expected to meet in a lightweight title unification fight that will headline the event.
Another important matchup is planned between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane for an interim heavyweight belt.
Jones had often spoken about a possible fight with Pereira and hoped to take part in the historic card. When the official announcement arrived without him, he reacted quickly online.
Emotional words from Jones
The fighter continued sharing his thoughts as he tried to process the news.
“Man, how f*cking painful.”
He later described the moment while thinking about how the situation looked from the outside.
“Laying in my bed, wrapping my head around this perception. All I can think is how f*cking painful.”
Jones also showed mixed feelings about the entire issue.
“And then the other half of me’s like, but is it really though?”
Soon after these comments appeared, the messages were removed from his page.

Dana White explains the UFC position
Dana White addressed the topic while speaking to reporters after UFC 326. According to White, the promotion had already ruled out the idea of Jones fighting on the White House card.
“I’m not saying they weren’t talking to Jon Jones and Jon Jones wasn’t interested in the fight,” White said. “What’s even crazier, Jon Jones came out and was like ‘I’m in negotiations right now for the White House fight’ after I had already sent a text to his lawyer saying ‘never going to happen, ever.’”
His comments suggested that even though discussions may have happened earlier, the organization had already made its final decision regarding the event.

Only a week before this news, Jones spoke during a fan event in New Hampshire and said he was “in negotiations with the UFC” for a possible appearance at the White House show.
There have also been discussions about his health. Jones recently mentioned serious arthritis in his hips and said he might need hip replacement surgery later in life.
The fighter also announced his retirement once in June 2025 before later stepping back from that decision when the White House event was first mentioned.
For now, the future of Jon Jones inside the UFC cage remains uncertain. He is widely seen as one of the greatest fighters in mixed martial arts history, but the latest news suggests his next step is unclear.
While the White House fight card moves forward with new title bouts, fans are still waiting to see whether Jones will return to competition or finally step away from the sport.
