We all expected an absolute bloodbath between Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux. The peasants scrambled in villages at the very mention of Sober Weightlifting Jon Jones. However, what we ended up getting was a tentative Jones which, turns out, is still the best fighter in the World.
Things started out slow and anxious. OSP landed a very hard shot early that almost sent the Earth out of orbit, from both the impact and the chaos it would’ve caused.
Well it wasnt spit…. It was snot! OSP knocked the snot outta JBJ #UFC197 pic.twitter.com/7DuYpPcKv6

Jones seemed to be more calculated. And by calculated, I mean took longer to do rad shit. Jokes aside, Jones had a technique for every position and came with a complete arsenal here: Tazmanian Devil elbows, spinning back and the infamous oblique kicks, but the main weapon were huge takedowns.

In the later rounds, OSP’s short notice preparation really started to show as he faded and Jones fell into his groove. Jones ended the later rounds on top inflicting damage.
.@JonnyBones gets the huge takedown but @003_OSP bounces right back up. Very competitive fight! #UFC197 https://t.co/0LW7sy2Sv8

Jones didn’t seem happy about the performance and claimed he wanted the real belt, setting up a unification bout between him and Daniel Cormier rumored to be in the works for UFC 200.
