Jon Jones says the fighting chapter is over after his failed push for a spot on the UFC White House card.
The former two-division champion is again talking retirement, but this time the message sounds firmer. After Dana White shut down the idea of Jones fighting on the White House card, the talk around Jones quickly moved from comeback chatter to whether the sport had already seen the last fight of his career.
Jones left little room for interpretation when he addressed it.
“My gloves are hung up. I’m chilling these days. You’ve got business Jon Jones, no more fighter Jon Jones. The businessman, you know what I’m saying?”
Jones last fought at UFC 309 in November 2024, where he defended the UFC heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic. That was only his second fight at heavyweight after the long delay that followed his move up from 205. Before that, he stacked one of the deepest runs in UFC history with two light heavyweight title reigns and 11 successful title defenses.
Jon Jones makes it clear it’s all about business now – he’s done fighting 👀💰

Jon Jones leaves behind one of the strangest great careers in MMA
Jones had still been trying to place himself in the biggest possible event conversation, including the White House card and another marquee heavyweight fight. Once that door closed, the tone around his future changed in a hurry. Even Daniel Cormier said he felt bad for Jones being left out of the White House lineup, which says a lot about how awkward this ending has looked from the outside.
Jones also shut down the idea of trying bare-knuckle after Yoel Romero floated it. If he sticks to this decision, the career ends with a short heavyweight chapter, a win over Miocic, and a résumé that already had him locked into all-time-great territory long before this final turn.
