Jon Jones Dismisses Chris Weidman’s Recent Callout
Chris Weidman recently announced his intent to move to 205lb by calling out Jon Jones. However the Light Heavyweight Champ does not seem concerned.
Former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman has been on a bit of a skid lately. Since losing his belt in 2015, he has lost 4 of 5 fights, as well as having a ton of injuries. Subsequently, he made the decision to move up in weight, to 205. Moreover, he called out the champ, Jon Jones.
However, in a recent video to his Instagram, Jones addresses this challenge. In the post, he is extremely dismissive of Weidman. In fact, he laughs off the fight, saying that Chris does not want it.
“I’m just checking the news. Somebody tell Chris Weidman he don’t want to fight me Stop. Hey Chris, just stop.”
Furthermore, Jones added a caption with his post, again warning Chris.
“Be careful with that target you’re staring at on my back, it just might bite you in the ass @ChrisWeidman”
The reason why Weidman believes he is the man to beat Jones, is due to Jon’s last few performances. He had back to back fights that many considered lackluster, and not to the standard of his previous fights. Especially his last bout, which was a split decision over Thiago Santos. While some attribute this to the toughness of his opponents, others say he has lost his stride.
Nevertheless, Chris Weidman will have to get through Dominic Reyes before he can even think about fighting Jon Jones. If the fight does go down, how do you think it will play out?
