Jon Jones Lays Into Bellator’s Dillon Danis After Recent Callout
Jon Jones is set to face Thiago Santos this weekend, at UFC 239. However, ahead of this bout, he responds to a callout by Bellator’s Dillon Danis.
Jones is a multiple time UFC Light Heavyweight champion, and one of the greatest athletes in MMA history. On the other hand, Dillon Danis holds a professional record of just 2-0. The BJJ standout is competing in Bellator, at a catchweight of 175lbs.
So, when Danis went on record saying he would beat Jon Jones in MMA, most people rolled their eyes. The size advantage alone, would likely be too much for the SBG Ireland product. However, this statement did cause a bit of stir, making a few headlines.
Jon Jones believes this is all Danis is after. When asked about what was going on here, on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, Jones was quite dismissive.
“Dude, nothing is going on with Dillon Danis.”
Jones then went on to explain what he thinks Danis is trying to accomplish.
“I think he knows I’m the type of guy to respond, and it’s getting his following up. So, I think that’s what’s going on with him. At the end of the day, I don’t come out and talk trash about these guys. That just came out of nowhere. I feel like I’ve been in this sport, super relevant, for over 10 years now. some guys just like to bring up my name because it looks cool.”
Helwani then proceeded to ask if he would be interested in a grappling match with the BJJ champion.
“I wouldn’t grapple him but I’d put my foot in his mouth.”
It seems pretty clear that if Jon Jones and Dillon Danis fought, this would likely be the result.
