The video

During the footage, the former light heavyweight was drunk and behaving erratically. He calls the police officers “nerds” and says that he hates them.

“This is so humiliating,” Jones said during the arrest. “I got in the Hall of Fame tonight. Then you’re gonna put me on this when I’m walking down the street. You humiliated me on my Hall of Fame night, you fu*king nerd. Oh my goodness. I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!”

Jones also accused the officers of racial profiling by saying they “arrested him on his Hall of Fame night, because he is big and Black.”

After jumping while being handcuffed, Jones asked the officers, “what did I do?”, told them that he hated them, and then he head-butted the police SUV, denting it.

The incident

This of all happened on Sept. 24, 2021, in the early morning after Jones accepted his Hall of Fame award for his epic fight with Alexander Gustafsson. The Las Vegas police had been called to Caesars Palace in response to a domestic violence incident involving Jones and his fiance.

In December 2021, Jones pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of destroying property and agreed to pay $750 in restitution. Jones also was ordered to attend anger management counseling.

Since this occurrence, Jones claims he is sober and has been seen training at Fight Ready in Arizona with Henry Cejudo.
