Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier reunited on the set of ALF Global Reality in Russia as opposing coaches. Years after their UFC battles, the two former champions quickly reminded everyone that their rivalry is far from over.
While both were coaching teams of fighters, cameras captured a tense staredown and verbal sparring that reignited their historic conflict.
Jones sparks the tension
The exchange began with Jones teasing Cormier about his weight.
“I’m just wondering how much ‘DC’ weighs right now,” Jones said with a joking tone.
Cormier immediately fired back, referencing past comments about his size.
“You used to make fun of me about being fat,” Cormier replied. “Look at you. He tries to pull hit shirt and s—t to hide it.”
Verbal threats escalate
The situation grew more intense as Jones addressed the remote filming location.
“We can’t afford for anything bad to happen out here,” Jones said. “We’re in the middle of nowhere. There’s barely anybody that can pull me off of him.”
When asked what would happen if they actually fought, Jones hinted at his confidence.
“I think we all know what would happen,” he said.
Cormier responded with his own warning, referencing a nearby pool.
“No, no, no,” Cormier said. “What would happen is now we’d be fighting at a more natural weight for me so I would probably drown him. In that pool right there.”
